VIP's new residential treatment facility, specifically for women, officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception. This new building, with 40-beds, replaced one that served 25 women. It was funded by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
Fall 2006
News: VIP was awarded a five-year $2.5 million grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The grant will enable VIP to provide mental health services to people in Bronx who are living with HIV/AIDS.
A three year grant to test 4,000 individuals for HIV/AIDS was awarded to VIP under the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (Care) Act. The maximum reimbursable amount for each of the three years is $389,813.
Summer 2006
News: Sandra Ruiz Butter, VIP's President, has been appointed to the position of Chair, New York State AIDS Advisory Council, by Governor George E. Pataki. Mrs. Butter will lead the Council as it researches and makes recommendations to the New York State Department of Health on critical issues that affect HIV/AIDS in our state.
Events: VIP held its semi-annual gala on Sept 7, at Gotham Hall, in Manhattan. More than 300 guests attended the gala, which raised over $330,000 for VIP. The honoree for the evening was Brian Cashman, senior vice president and general manager of the New York Yankees. A special community leadership award was given to William Frey, executive vice president and interim chief operating office Enterprise Community Partners. VIP graduate Brandy McNeil, gave a heartfelt speech about her recovery.
Summer 2004
News: VIP's Opioid Treatment Program has received its second three-year CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accreditation. CARF is an independent, nonprofit organization. It conducts on-site surveys of organizations to determine the degree to which the organization meets rigorous internationally recognized standards.
We are very proud that our Opioid Treatment Program has again demonstrated that its services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.
