The Bronx Rising Initiative has launched a homebound vaccine initiative to inoculate Bronx seniors where they live. Beginning Monday, April 12, 2021, in partnership with VIP Community Services and community-based organizations including Meals on Wheels and East Side House Settlement, among others, the Bronx Rising Initiative’s newest campaign aims to make up discrepancies in vaccine access for those that do not have access to the internet or proper transportation.

The homebound initiative is a continuation of the organization’s effort to get every Bronx resident vaccinated, which has so far reached over 4,000 Bronx residents in total through vaccine events at NYCHA centers and through local clinics.

“Our goal is to vaccinate as many people in the Bronx as possible and to ensure that no one – especially our most vulnerable – is overlooked,” said Jason Autar, Chief of Operations of the Bronx Rising Initiative. “We aim to create true equity in the vaccine rollout process, and this initiative is a critical step in reaching everyone that has so far been locked-out of vaccination efforts.”
